Marduk System

If corruption and greed were given a home, Letheon Black would be the place for it. From illegal enterprises for fortune or fame, to degredation of the human spirit, this is the place for it.

Significance: The Marduk System is controlled by the Octavion Syndicate much like Letheon Black. Marduk is the home of the Mansion.

Star: Marduk

Star Type: K‑Type Main Sequence (K2–K4 V) A stable, long‑lived orange dwarf. Slightly cooler and dimmer than a G‑type like Aureleth, but still excellent for supporting habitable zones.

Color: Warm orange‑gold

Luminosity: About 0.4–0.7× that of Sol. Bright enough to sustain life, but with a softer, more amber light.

Behavior:

  • Extremely stable, with minimal solar flaring.

  • Long lifespan, giving the system billions of years of predictable conditions.

  • Creates long, warm seasons on planets in its habitable zone.

  • Its orange light gives the system a distinctive amber hue, especially during dawns and eclipses.

Star: Anu

Star Type: MType Red Dwarf (M5–M7 V) Dim, cool, and small but active.

Color: Deep crimsonred, almost bloodred during close passes.

Luminosity: Only 0.01–0.03× that of Sol. Barely contributes heat or light except during close orbital alignments.

Behavior:

  • Highly active, prone to small but frequent flares.

  • Moves in a tight, eccentric orbit around Marduk, causing periodic alignments.

  • Creates dramatic redtinged eclipses when it passes between Marduk and the planets.

  • Its gravitational influence subtly distorts planetary orbits, creating longterm cycles and rare celestial events.

Planets

Nergal

Type: Tidally locked terrestrial

Position: Innermost planet

Atmosphere: Thin, ionized, unstable

Description

  • Nergal is so close to Marduk and Anu that its dayside is a molten hellscape.

  • Dayside: molten rock seas, superheated atmosphere, constant solar bombardment

  • Nightside: frozen basalt plains, no sunlight, no atmosphere circulation

Hazards

  • Surface temperatures swing from +1200°C to –200°C

  • Solar storms from Anu strip atmosphere continuously

  • No life, no terraforming potential

Significance

Used only for:

  • extreme solar research

  • radiation‑hardening tests

  • Syndicate weapon stress trials

Shamash

Type: Hot desert terrestrial

Atmosphere: Thick, dry, silica‑laden

Description

  • Shamash is a world of endless dunes, glass plains, and superheated winds.

  • Temperatures regularly exceed 60–70°C

  • Sandstorms can last weeks

  • Occasional volcanic activity

Hazards

  • Silica storms that shred equipment

  • Heatstroke risk even with suits

  • Unstable magnetic field

Significance

  • Syndicate uses it for survival training

  • Illegal mining of rare heat‑formed crystals

  • Rumored to host hidden Syndicate caches

Irkalla

Type: Terraformed terrestrial

Atmosphere: Earth‑like

Native Life: Various plant life and animal life native to the planet.

Surface: Plains, engineered waterways, controlled climate, multiple terraced structures left by previous residents

Description

Irkalla was previously inhabited by a previous civilization, leaving behind traces of their society.

The archaeological expedition is researching this now missing species. What they’ve found is that the previous Irkallans were at least 15 feet tall and crustacean-like in appearance. They’re assumed to have left the planet millennia ago, as there are no signs of mass extinction.

· Prone to fog and frequent rains

· Various rivers, lakes, and artificial waterways to control flooding

· Controlled weather systems

· There are terraced structures throughout the world with chambers inside the terraced structured

Hazards

· The Mansion complex

· Hidden underground transport tunnels

· Surveillance systems woven into the biosphere

· Mansion is the largest structure on the planet

· Ganzir (anarchist community) exists on the outskirts

Ninurta

Type: Rocky super‑Earth

Atmosphere: Thin, dusty

Gravity: ~1.8g

Description

· Ninurta is a massive, mineral‑rich world with brutal gravity.

· Jagged mountain ranges

· Deep metallic canyons

· Constant seismic activity

Hazards

· High gravity crushes unaugmented visitors

· Frequent quakes

· Toxic dust storms

Significance

· Syndicate’s largest mining world

· Produces metals used in cybernetics, weapons, and ship hulls

· Workers are often indentured or enslaved

Enlil

Type: Gas giant

Atmosphere: Hydrogen, helium, exotic gases

Moons: Several small mining outposts

Description

· Enlil is a massive gas giant with swirling amber and blue bands.

· Strong magnetic field

· Violent jet streams

· Deep atmospheric vortices

Hazards

· Lightning storms thousands of kilometers long

· Pressure zones that crush mining rigs

· Radiation belts

Significance

· Primary source of energy for the Marduk system

· Helium‑3 extraction

· Syndicate controls all mining rights

Type: Storm world Atmosphere: Hyperdense, electrically active

Description

· Adad is a world of perpetual storms.

· Global hurricane systems

· Lightning arcs visible from orbit

· Oceans churned into vapor by constant heat

· No stable land

· Storms reach Category 7+ equivalents

· Atmospheric pressure lethal to humans

Significance

· Used for atmospheric research

· Syndicate tests weather‑based weapons here

· Rumored to hide storm‑powered generators

Tiamat

Type: Ocean super‑Earth

Atmosphere: Thick, humid

Surface: 98% water

Description

· Tiamat is a massive water world with:

· Deep global oceans

· Floating archipelagos

· Towering storm fronts

· Bioluminescent algae imported from Tsovinar

Hazards

· Megastorms

· Rogue waves kilometers high

· Pressure zones that crush submersibles

Significance

· Syndicate uses it for aquatic training

· Illegal underwater labs rumored beneath the surface

· Some escaped Mansion slaves hide on floating debris islands

Ereshkigal

Type: Frozen outer world

Atmosphere: Thin nitrogen‑methane

Surface: Ice plains, cryovolcanoes

Description

Ereshkigal is the coldest world in the system.

· Temperatures near –180°C

· Cryovolcanic eruptions of methane and ammonia

· Long, dark winters due to Anu’s orbit

Hazards

· Frozen storms

· Sudden fissures

· Methane geysers

Significance

· Used as a remote prison world

· Syndicate stores cryogenic materials here

· Rumors of abandoned research stations
